In the 2022-2023 school year, the Board of Education hired a consultant to conduct a Facilities and Grade Organization Study. As part of this study, a School Community Advisory Committee was formed consisting of approximately thirty members representing various stakeholder groups: parents, community members, staff and administration. Between January 2023 through September 2023, the committee has held eight meetings. During these meetings, the committee has analyzed enrollment projections, examined space utilization in each of the four elementary buildings, explored aspects of the elementary program, including class size, special subject areas (art, music, physical education, and library), special education services, staffing levels, and transportation. With this data, the committee explored several options for reconfiguration.

The first two options entail keeping four elementary buildings.

Option 1:             Current Configuration (four K-5 buildings)

Option 2:             Grade Center Configuration

  • two buildings with grades K-2
  • two buildings with grades 3-5

The next 2 options address the possibility of closing an elementary building.

Option 3:             Three K-5 buildings

Option 4:             Grade Center Configuration (three buildings)

  • one building with grades K-1
  • one building with grades 2-3
  • one building with grades 4-5

Listed under the School Community Advisory tab are the agendas, PowerPoint presentations, and minutes for your information.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) will be added to the website to provide additional background and clarification as the committee moves forward.

The committee will be continuing its work in Fall 2023. Please watch for upcoming dates and locations for parent/community meetings.
