On May 23rd, North Broad Street Huskies held our second annual Mini Relay for Life, focusing on the power of hope, love, and togetherness. During the Relay ceremony, we welcomed Ryan Aumell. Ryan, a freshman at Canastota Central School, courageously shared his story of beating cancer as a child. He encouraged students to come to school each day to work hard so they can reach their dreams.
During the Relay ceremony, we were honored to welcome survivors and caregivers and surrounded them with hope and love before walking together to stomp out cancer. Students lined the streets for the survivor/caregiver lap and the encouragement and love that was shared during this lap was beyond measure. A sea of orange and blue could be seen throughout the school day as students completed laps in shifts.
The day ended with a silent tribute walk through the building where luminaria bags lined the halls, giving students and staff an opportunity to remember those we’ve lost to cancer and honor countless survivors.
Thank you to all of our survivors, families, and friends who joined us for this second annual event. We look forward to seeing you all back in 2020!
